blink and you’ll drive past this understated and simple café.

Minestra welcomed me into its air-conditioned room and into the hands of its friendly wait staff. this is a simple café: some art is hung around the room and painted on chalk boards are the feature pieces. there is a retro counter, filled with organic produce and appetising store made goodies. this counter  matches the mixed aray of wooden chairs and tables, it all truly works together.

it wasn’t busy for a Saturday morning breakfast, I took myself to a large round table with a water jug and a magazine from their large collection.

the menu has seven breakfast options, I had French toast, fruit, honey whip for $15. my soy cappuccino was $3.80 with no extra charge for the soy! they make a nice coffee with a good froth for a soy. let me just say that I am so glad that this was a solo trip because I did not want to share the French toast with anyone.. the French toast came out in a kitsch 70s plate which suited Minestra and I didn’t expect anything less. so, this meal was unbelievable; three pieces of toast covered in poached plums and pears slightly tasting of cinnamon, fresh raspberries in their syrup and then covered in honey whip which tasted like a zesty lemon and honey cream. my tastebuds were subject to an intense/fresh/ so delicious I’m going to die meal.

a friend suggested Minestra as my next blog, and I do believe this place does deserve a pop in if you’re in the area.
