Mister Sunshine’s
Mister Sunshine’s
if you happen to be in Thebarton and feel the need to relax, pop in to Mister Sunshine’s. actually, if you’re in the area and feel like having a coffee and a burger then you should definitely make sure you find your way there.
Mister Sunshine’s has been on my list of places to visit for a while; I wasn’t really sure what to expect when I arrived.
a super friendly guy (with mad dreadlocks) welcomed us in from behind the counter, and then a lovely waitress (with an outfit probably made from material from when my father was born) took us to a table, handing us menus and giving us glasses of water. there was a great mix between soulful and indie tunes playing throughout our meal which I found made my dining experience more attractive. remember having tea at your grandparents house with their kitsch coloured dinnerware? well, Carly and myself do, and being served with these brought a sense of nostalgia.
i am forever people watching; the array of Mister Sunshine’s customers was vast- the super alternatives dining in on the vegetarian/ vegan options to soccer mums getting their take away skinny late and then myself right in the middle of the two. i really enjoy being somewhere that everyone feels welcomed in, means the vibes are just right.
the menu has a lot to offer, as well as their nibbles at the counter. I chose to have a Hot Choc Coconut -$4.50 and a Choc
Cranberry Slice -$4. If you’re a fan of coconut milk then you really should immerse yourself in this drink. the slice was vegan, as were all of the small desserts that day and I thoroughly enjoyed it. the slice was bitter with the sweetness of the cranberries, and worked really well with the coconut milk in the hot chocolate
Carly got herself a mocha, which unfortunately wasn’t to her taste and the Haloumi Burger -$12. man oh man, this Haloumi Burger is just something else! it is vegetarian, but you do have an option to add chorizo if desired. this burger is up in my top 5 burgers which have entered my mouth; the flavour this baby contains is unbelievably fresh while being just delicious from the fat wad of haloumi. i’m sure that
every other meal on their menu is great, but it really should be tried by everyone.
congratulations for your first year as Mister Sunshine’s!
