Queen Street Cafe
Queen Street Café is in my local area and I can’t believe it’s taken a year and a half for me to visit. a year and a half of missing out on this gem – a seriously upsetting revelation.
Queen Street Café filled my breakfast and coffee void this morning. i feel that this place may become a loyal companion now that winter is coming; not just for myself but for all the others in the area. but wear a coat because it did feel like winter was already present in the café ( i’m a wimp in the cold ).
you can choose to dine inside or outside, we chose inside on account of my wimpish behaviour. there is one large room where you can dine in twos, fours, windowsills or on a massive long table for like 12 people. its spread out enough that you aren’t squished to high heaven- which is always a delight at 8am when all you’re hangry. oh, they give you table service which I didn’t expect yet thoroughly enjoyed.
could they make a good soy cap? YES YAY TASTY YUMMO.
I have worked out the secret – people are a bit crap at not curdling soy milk so I thought I would ask for warm soy milk and hey presto it worked. for the first time in over a month I have had the pleasure of drinking a coffee that actually tasted like coffee.
the breakfast menu has 8 options. i chose asparagus, haloumi, poached eggs with a basil pestro dressing on dark rye for $16. i love bacon so I added some for an extra $4 and got given 6 delicious slices. Nathan ordered himself smoked salmon with spinach and fetta on toast $18 with an extra avocado for extra $4.
can I just say that we were served such a large amount of food, we truly felt that paying $20ish for breakfast was so worth it. and it was SO delicious! hangry jasmine soon left and happy jasmine emerged.
Queen Street Café delivered love in my mug and on my plate, I had a really great first experience. i will return for sure. readers if you’re in the area, go pop in for a good coffee and meal.
Jasmine xx
