the little eastern
I decided to spend Valentines breakfast with my friend Carly at the little eastern.
the little eastern is on Magill Road, and is not hard to spot, there is a yellow display of their name on the front glass window. this place is small and intimate, seating maybe 20. being Valentines it was extremely busy but were able to get a table without waiting.
once inside, it was apparent that yellow was their running theme, and it ties in well with white walls with red brick features. their menu is on a painted black chalk board behind the counter, helping the yellow coffee machine stand out. their floor staff were SO friendly, grabbing a chair next to us to discuss the menu, offer suggestions and take orders all by memory.
unbeknown to me before reading the menu, the little eastern is Lebanese and so are their meals. some are traditional and other meals are a mixture. there is no pork on the menu, so if you feel like a fry up then here is not for your tastebuds. majority of their menu is also vegetarian. finally, $17 is the most you’ll pay for any meal.
firstly, the little eastern do all day breakfast! winning. I chose smashed avocado ‘avocado & danish fetta smash on toasted sourdough rye with fresh mint, zataar & a zesty lemon dressing’ $11.50, plus an added poached egg for $1.50. and let me tell you that this was such a fresh and flavoursome meal, I was really happy with it! My soy cap was delicious and made into a heart. $3.50 for standard milk coffee + $1 for soy milk. bit steep for a regular size. C had an iced coffee $5.50, she said it tasted like milk.. and a white choc & berry brownie which was very yummy.
the little eastern is a sweet little place, a nice place to meet a friend for a light brunch.

overall:
- Taste: nice
- Serving size: usual
- Value $: $1 for soy was rude, but $13 for a breaky that kept me full for hours is good
- Atmosphere: intimate without overhearing conversations
- Visit again?: not for a $4.50 coffee
