Cafe Komodo

prologue: I am aware that on facebook Café Komodo has over 6000 check ins, making it a well-known place. my exception for this is that they claim they are Prospects best kept secret.

Café Komodo

Café Komodo

my mum and I went here to catch up over a cup of coffee; she recommended I do a write up of it. Café Komodo was the perfect location for our catch up actually.iIt feels like you’re out in Willunga or McLaren Vale , not on Prospect Road.

i think that the atmosphere and actual design of Café Komodo us what makes it such an enjoyable place to be in. it’s a retro/garage/hipster/vegan place without the actual pretentious vibe of being a retro/garage/hipster/vegan place. at the counter is a sign saying those this is a breastfeeding and beared friendly cafe, I think that sums up Café Komodo well.

a main wall of the café (a tin shed) is covered in records and posters of bands such as The Beatles ,whilst the floors are home to the retro laminex tables with their matching chairs. outside was a delightful place to sit, with grape vines over your head. the music they were playing for a Wednesday morning was perfect, real chilled out beats.

today delivered a soy cap for myself- $3.50 with an added .80 cents for soy milk. that was a touch irritating as I usually don’t have to pay that much for soy. M got herself a standard long black with milk on the side. to share was their home made cinnamon muesli with fresh fruit and yoghurt – $12. our coffees were slightly bitter, nothing special. the muesli was delicious – I usually don’t enjoy anything with a strong cinnamon taste.

the menu was dear for what there was in each meal description. unless the portion sizing comes out as too much to eat it did looked as though you wouldn’t get value for your money. i am happy to stand corrected.

Café Komodo is certainly a place I’ll take my friends to, just because I haven’t seen anything else quite like it in Adelaide before. they have a vast breakfast menu, so I’m sure everyone’s taste will be catered for.
